Before entering the 10th Muse’s story contest (“Contest”), please read these official rules (“Rules”). The Contest is governed by these Rules and by participating in and submitting a story (“Entry”) into the Contest you as a participant (“Participant”) agree to comply with these Rules. For the avoidance of doubt any and all Entries may be published on 10th Muse iStories application (the ”App”) subject to these Rules.
The Contest is organized by 10th Muse oy (Business ID: 3021838-5), Lapinlahdenkatu 16, 00180 Helsinki, Finland (hereinafter “10th Muse”).
The Participants may submit their Entries to the Contest via the Google Forms link provided by 10th Muse. By entering the Contest, the Participant grants 10th Muse all necessary rights to the Entry so that 10th Muse may publish the entry on the App worldwide.
The Participants shall be over  years old or have the approval of their guardians/guardian in order to participate in the Contest.
An individual Participant may submit as many Entries as they are able to enter, prior to the deadline to enter the Contest. 10th Muse may consider all submitted Entries for publication and may publish any Entry at its sole discretion.
Participant hereby warrants that:
All 10th Muse employees and all third parties involved in organizing and/or administering the Contest, including their family members, are not eligible to participate in the Contest. 10th Muse shall have the right to verify the fulfillment of all the above-mentioned requirements and require the Participant to provide proof of eligibility. If any of the requirements have not been fulfilled, 10th Muse will not accept the Entry.
The Contest Period is 17.12.2019 – 16.2.2020.
Any Entries submitted after the Contest Period shall be void. The Participant shall have the sole responsibility for submitting his/her Entry within the Contest Period. 10th Muse shall not be responsible for any human error, technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures of any network, computer equipment, software, prospective Participant’s inability to access any website or online service or any other error or malfunction or late or lost Entries.
A jury, chosen by 10th Muse, shall select the winners of the Contest.
The winners of the Contest will be awarded the following prizes:
1st prize: €600,
2nd prize: €200
3rd prize: €100.
All winning Entries are also provided with custom covers and publication on the App. All other entries will not receive any payment or customized work. Non-winning entries may be offered a publishing contract.
The prizes will be paid through a wire transfer to the bank account provided by the winner following the announcement of the winners. Participants shall be responsible for the fees charged by their banks. 10th Muse will make the payment in EUR and any conversion loss or fees are to the account of the Participant.
If the winners of the Contest cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return any possible proof of eligibility and/or a required release from liability within the required time period, or if a prize or prize notification sent to the contact details submitted by the Participant upon his/her Entry is returned as undeliverable, the winner forfeits the prize and 10th Muse shall not be liable to deliver the prize or equivalent value to the winner.
The prize is personal, and the winner may not assign it to any third-party and no substitution of the prize for other goods and/or services by 10th Muse is available.
10th Muse may refuse to hand over the prize or demand the winner to return the prize, based on Participant’s suspected fraudulent actions, lack of eligibility to participate or other corresponding reasons attributable to the winner.
The winners of the Contest will be contacted personally through the email address provided, three weeks after the end of the Contest period by 16.2.2020.
The winners will be contacted also via the e-mail address provided in connection with the Entry. 10th Muse shall not be liable for inability to contact the winner in the event that the Participant has given an incorrect email address or if the prize cannot be paid to the Participant due to reasons beyond 10th Muse’s control.
Should the Participant submit an Entry which wins a prize in the Contest, the Participant with said winning Entry shall license and grant to 10th Muse a non-exclusive, royalty-free and free of charge, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, and fully sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, copy, communicate to the public, make available, publish, translate, create derivative works of, distribute, and display the Entry throughout the world in any media, product and service, advertising, marketing and promotional materials, and digital reproductions, without compensation, restrictions on use, acknowledgement of source, accountability or liability, and with waiver of all moral rights and rights of attribution, integrity and identity to the extent permitted by mandatory laws.
With regard to the Contest Entries, the Participant understands and agrees that the Participant is solely and fully responsible for any and all aspects of the Entry submitted, including but not limited to its legality, appropriateness and non-infringement of third-party intellectual property rights.
Any and all rights to Contest materials and intellectual property rights pertaining thereto shall vest in 10th Muse.
Participation in the Contest shall be at the Participants sole discretion, and 10th Muse shall have no liabilities regarding the participation or the Prizes.
Payment of local taxes, if applicable, shall be solely the responsibility of the Contest winner.
In addition, the Participants have the possibility of joining the 10th Muse mailing list.
By entering the Contest, the Participant grants 10th Muse the right to publish the winning submitted Entry as well as to publish the name of the winners of the Contest and any related announcements in various media without separate consent or compensation.
10th Muse reserves the right to change these Rules at its sole discretion. These Rules shall be construed in accordance with the laws of Finland without giving effect to any choice of law provisions. All disputes arising out of or in connection with these Rules shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Helsinki district court.
